2004 Cantey Awards

The Cantey Awards night held at the end of June was a great night of entertainment and awards. I hope you managed to make it to see everyone and be seen! Here are photos from the night held June 30, 2004.

Keith Kapp welcomed everyone to this year's Cantey Awards night.
Cate Foltin presented her Managing Director's report.
The master of ceremonies for the evening was David Britt.
Haskell Fitz-Simons introduced the 2003-2004 Cantey Awards ceremony.

Best Performance in a Cameo Role

The award Best Performance in a Cameo Role was awarded to Missy Dapper, who played Edna Klein in Children of A Lesser God. The award was presented by Brent Wilson, last year's winner.

Kathleen Rudolph and Carmen Mandley presented the Senior Recognition Awards. Recipients were Stephanie Cluggish, Adam Patterson, Ruth Berry, Timmy O’Connor, William Thompson, Meredith Budlong, and Anna Gettles.

 

Alicia Davis presented some of the Youth Initiative awards. Winners were Amanda Bitler, Allyson Packer, Jamie Powell, and Catherine Winn.

Anna Gettles presented some of the Youth Achievement awards. Winners were Ruth Berry, Stephanie Cluggish, Delia Parks, Adam Douglas Patterson, and Lucius Robinson

As a surprise addition to the program, Anna Gettles and Laura Jernigan presenting the "Carmazing" award to Carmen Mandley who is leaving RLT as Youth Education Director. Anna and Laura described Carmen's influence and legacy.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role

Rob Jenkins presented the award Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role. The winner was Adrienne Morton as Mary Detweiler in How the Other Half Loves. Mary's husband accepted the award on her behalf in his absence.

Rick Young and Haskell Fitz-Simons recognized the work throughout the season of the volunteer coordinators and the stage managers.
Rick Young presented two of the Wolfie volunteer awards.
To start off the muscial interlude, the Women of Smokey Joe's Café sang "I'm a Woman". Pictured are Yolanda Williams Rabun, with Peggy Hayes looking on.
The men of Smokey Joe's Café sang "There Goes My Cantey" (as opposed to "There Goes My Baby").

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role

The Cantey for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, presented by Rose Martin, went to Jack Prather, who played William Detweiler in How the Other Half Loves.

Cate Foltin presented the Charles V York Jr Theatre Service Award to a grateful and somewhat surprised David Watts.
Rick Young had lost a lot of weight this past year, and his "lost fat" joined him at the podium to present the Glen Amos Miller Technical Service Award to Al Wolfheimer. His fat was somewhat disgruntled at Rick's attitude towards him and made it know to all!
Everyone in the audience enjoyed the cast of Smokey Joe's Café performing "On Broadway".

Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role

The Cantey Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role went to Adam Gsegner who played James Leeds in Children of A Lesser God. Adam couldn't make it tonight, so Sam Parker (Director of Children) accepted it on his behalf.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role

The award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role was won by Whitney Griffin Boreiko who played Sarah Norman in Children of A Lesser God.

Best Production of the 2003-2004 Season

The award for Best Production, presented by outgoing president Keith Kapp, was awarded to Children of A Lesser God, accepted by director Sam Parker. Sam is pictured here signing for himself (Jo Ann Miller-Kinsey and Karen Magoon signed the rest of the evening).

Our new board president Cece Scott made some closing remarks and then ajourned the meeting to the lobby for the post-show party.
